Terms And Conditions

Terms & Conditions

For Watton Electronic Repairs

1. General

By booking a repair, posting a device to us, or leaving a device with us, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions.

Watton Electronic Repairs reserves the right to refuse service at our discretion.

2. Diagnostics & Fault Assessment

All devices are assessed based on the symptoms reported by the customer.

In some cases, additional faults may be discovered during diagnosis or repair. If this occurs, we will contact you before carrying out additional chargeable work.

Diagnostic fees may apply even if the customer chooses not to proceed with the repair.

3. Bench Fee

A non-refundable £15 bench fee applies to all diagnostic and repair assessments unless otherwise agreed.

This fee covers:

  • Initial diagnostics
  • Fault tracing
  • Device disassembly and inspection
  • Time spent assessing the repair

If the customer proceeds with the quoted repair, the £15 bench fee will be deducted from the final repair cost.

If the customer declines the repair after diagnosis, the £15 bench fee remains payable.

Where a repair attempt is unsuccessful, only the £15 bench fee will apply unless replacement parts have already been fitted or specially ordered.

Return postage costs may still apply for postal repairs.

4. Data & Customer Responsibility

Customers are responsible for backing up all data before repair.

Watton Electronic Repairs accepts no responsibility for:

  • Data loss
  • Corrupted operating systems
  • Loss of accounts, saves, photos, or files
  • Software issues arising during repair

Some repairs may require factory resetting the device.

Passwords or passcodes may be required for testing purposes.

5. Water / Liquid Damage Repairs

Liquid-damaged devices are repaired on a best-effort basis only.

Corrosion can continue to spread after repair, and we cannot guarantee long-term reliability of liquid-damaged devices.

Warranty is limited or excluded on liquid-damaged devices unless otherwise stated.

6. Parts & Components

We may use:

  • Genuine parts
  • OEM-equivalent parts
  • Refurbished components
  • Customer-supplied parts (where agreed)

Part availability may affect turnaround times.

We are not responsible for faults caused by customer-supplied parts.

7. Repair Risks

By agreeing to a repair, the customer acknowledges that electronic repairs carry inherent risks.

Some devices may become:

  • Unrepairable during the process
  • Further damaged due to existing faults
  • Unstable because of prior repair attempts, corrosion, or manufacturing defects

This is especially relevant for:

  • Microsoldering
  • Motherboard repairs
  • Console modifications
  • Liquid-damaged devices

We will always take reasonable care during repairs.

8. Warranty

Repairs include a 3 month warranty unless otherwise stated.

Warranty covers:

  • The specific repair carried out
  • Parts fitted by us
  • Labour relating to the original repair

Warranty does not cover:

  • Physical damage
  • Liquid damage after repair
  • Software issues
  • Customer misuse
  • Overheating caused by poor ventilation
  • Tampering or third-party repair attempts
  • New unrelated faults

Warranty is void if warranty seals are removed or damaged.

9. Turnaround Times

Estimated turnaround times are not guaranteed.

Delays may occur due to:

  • Parts availability
  • Supplier delays
  • Complex diagnostics
  • High workload
  • Additional faults discovered during repair

10. Uncollected Devices

Devices not collected within 90 days of completion notice may be recycled, resold, or disposed of to recover repair and storage costs.

We will attempt to contact the customer beforehand.

11. Payments

Full payment is required before devices are returned or collected.

We reserve the right to retain devices until invoices are paid in full.

12. Postal Repairs

Customers sending devices by post do so at their own risk.

We strongly recommend tracked and insured postage.

Watton Electronic Repairs is not responsible for:

  • Devices lost in transit to us
  • Damage caused during shipping
  • Delays caused by couriers

13. Modifications & Console Services

Modification services are provided at the customer’s request.

The customer accepts responsibility for:

  • Warranty voiding by manufacturers
  • Online service bans
  • Software-related issues after modification

We do not provide or install copyrighted content.

14. Limitation of Liability

Our liability is limited to the amount paid for the repair service.

We are not liable for:

  • Indirect losses
  • Loss of income
  • Loss of business
  • Loss of data
  • Loss of use

15. Privacy

Customer information is used only for communication, invoicing, and repair processing.

We do not sell or share customer data with third parties except where required by law.
